The Ideology
"Living in Tune with Nature!"

RESPECTING the OUTDOORS

The outdoors form the core of the all our programs and we believe that the most important aspect is respecting the wondrous bounty and whatever is left of the fast fading environment!

The Aral Sea, once a great mass of water is now reduced to just a speck on the earth causing wide spread agony to those who depended on it. The Amazon and its creatures are dwindling at an alarming rate!

We need to understand nature, respect it and leave as little trace on it. Small things like letting the flowers grow and not picking them, leaving campsites with a NO TRACE mark, using minimum and carrying everything back with us are simple things we can do.

Camp Rules promote a "Leave NO Trace" way of living outdoors and by exposing children to this "way of life" we aim at making children more AWARE!

I loved every bit of Camp! Is was the greatest summer I ever had! Waiting to be back soon!! Read more!

EXPERIENCING the OUTDOORS

We head to nature to embrace it by allowing nature to embrace us. For a wholesome experience we need to be Open and Flexible and move out of our comfort zones!

Facilities: The camps provide outdoor living which is simple and nature friendly. Sometimes in tents and sometimes in forest/nature homes, the facilities are basic and comfortable. Sleeping bags are provided to keep one warm and provide comfort on a hard surface.Campsites are as comfortable as we make them and Most of our camps have natural living environment – viz sleeping in tents under the sky or with simple sleeping arrangements. Which also means, we wash ourselves in nature streams and go for nature calls in nature!

The idea is to give children the experience of being fully into the outdoors, away from our routine and “too comfortable” urban lifestyle.

Food: You will find basic food in our camps. Either we cook or we tie up with the local residents to cook food for us – in any which way the food is simple and nutritious. Varieties are kept to minimum, the idea is not to cater to ‘choices” - rather – whatever is available we “ALL” share and eat/ drink that and enjoy it.

Carry Less: We don't need excess baggage to weigh us down when we are looking at that great view or facing the river to cross. You will hardly need ALL the things that you use in the city, so follow the list and BE LIGHT

Let Go, go with the flow: We need to shed our urban habits and explore the great outdoors. In our urban settings we are so much “clock” oriented that the watch rules our life. When at a nature camp we try to flow like a river. The water in the river does not know how, what, where, when? – it just flows. So, when in nature, we keep our questions, our worries aside – we just go with the flow, like how a river does.

CAMP ENVIRONMENT

Independence: Camp promotes every participant to be independent and responsible for the things he/she carries and to do their given task/chores on their own.

Teamwork: Success of the camp works with the effort of the whole team, and this is contributed by every participant.

JUNK Food: No junk food is allowed on camp. Please empty your bags at home before coming.

UNLIMITED Fun: The camp is about fun and a little more fun. We enjoy every moment of camp and yes, we all feel CAMP SICK too.

Simple: The outdoors humbles us, and at camp we move from our comfort zones to the wide open environment and simple outdoor living.

OPEN: Above all the environment at camp is FREE and OPEN to new things and new ways of learning and exploring. At camp we are not teachers and students but teammates living and surviving the great outdoors!!

The TEAM effect

Camps run on the energy of the group. We set foot on an open land and make it our home for the next few days; pitch our tents, collect the firewood and start the fire. All this is the collective effort of the team and the TEAM effect is what changes a simple piece of land to a full fledged campsite.

CIRCLE TIME: This is a system of collective problem solving – be it a physical, mental, social or emotional problem. This is also a forum for children to express their feelings and thoughts and to also learn how to respond to others feelings, thoughts and problems. Circle time is also a reflective process to gather learning from various experiences.

CODES AT THE START: Camp starts with setting up the codes by the team collectively. We decide how we are going to work together and how are we going to take care of each other – not only people but even their feelings. We encourage kids to talk about themselves - not talk for others. So no complaining or back biting and definitely no bullying.

MAGIC of US: We need to be responsible as a team, we need to make the camp function as a team and the camp functions how WE make it function!
